Welcome New Teacher: Mrs. Durkee

Mrs. Tracy Durkee is a reading teacher for grades 6-8 and an administrative intern as Assistant Principal.  She feels blessed to be able to serve in these capacities after having done part of her summer internship in McGraw that afforded her the chance to get to know some staff and students.  She is looking forward to continuing learning, growing, and interning in this district!
Mrs. Durkee has a Bachelor’s degree in N-6 Elementary Education with a concentration in English.  Her Master’s degree is in Reading K-12, and National Board certification is in Middle childhood.  She will be graduating from SUNY Cortland in December with her CAS in School Building Leadership/School District Leadership.  Her 27 year career has been spent teaching grades 1, 3 and 5 in the Homer School District.
Mrs. Durkee is a Lansing native, who has lived in Homer for the past three decades.  Her husband, Jim is an executive chef at Cayuga Medical Center in Ithaca.  They have two grown sons; Jimmy, a UPS driver who lives in Baldwinsville, and Jacob who is a college student at BCC, pursuing a degree as a PE teacher.  Their dog, Mac, is a dear member of the family who keeps them all entertained.  Family time takes precedent of any free time for Mrs. Durkee. They enjoy camping and exploring new townships.  She is an avid reader of mystery fiction and likes writing poetry and scrapbooking.  She is a golfer and an LA Chargers fan.
