Instant Artists

Recently the McGraw After School Enrichment Program hosted local artist and owner, Melissa Guyette, of Instant Artist.  Fourteen students from 4th and 5th grades painted a fun beach scene.  It was the perfect way to end the day inside, in spite of the snowy weather outside.  Each student began with a blank white canvas.  Melissa sketched a diagonal line and penciled in the outline of a starfish.  Then step-by-step students were guided independently to create their own unique piece of art.  It was a pleasure watching all the pieces come to life in the canvas! In between each directive, Melissa played music so the students knew it was time to paint when they heard the music.  When the music stopped, it was their time to listen.  Every single student was polite, attentive, and thoroughly enjoyed this experience.  It was a proud moment for me to see McGraw students represent themselves so well and have fun too!
