Sixth Grade English

Mrs. DiFulvio’s sixth graders are reading the much anticipated novel, Percy Jackson The Lightning Thief.  This popular fantasy book is read in English with a focus on the archetype hero’s journey, comparing Percy’s path to characters in other mythical stories.  Our standards are concentrated on citing textual evidence to support our claims, determining a central idea or theme, and describing how a story’s plot unfolds.   Even though many students have seen the movie, we still love reading the book and discovering the differences.
