Life Skills Syllabus
Course Description :
In this class, students will be able to learn and demonstrate knowledge/skills in the areas of daily living, social skills, and occupational skills. This class will also focus on math, ELA, science, social studies, and health.
Students in this class are “ungraded,” meaning the emphasis is put on the achievement of goals and mastering of skills. Our class content is modified to meet the needs of students and in achieving IEP goals.
Units of Study:
Safety, Hygiene, Money Skills, My Personality, My Character, Personal Life, Choices, Relating to Others, Friendship Skills, Communication Skills, Shopping, Present Skills and Interests, Nutrition/Eating, and Exercise/Health.
Students are encouraged to demonstrate respectful and responsible behavior at all times. Students can earn certain privileges for good behavior (individual behavior, group work, behavior in specials, staying on task, and demonstrating respect for staff and peers).
Students will be sent home with a daily behavior sheet detailing their day. This is to be signed by a parent and returned each day.
