The Music Department at McGraw Central School offers a quality, comprehensive, and sequential program, which enriches the students, school, and wider community. Brian K. Shelley, Instrumental Music 4-12
Mr. Shelley received his Bachelor of Science degree in Music Education from Roberts Wesleyan College and Master of Music degree in Music Education from SUNY Fredonia (currently holding New York State Permanent Certification for Music K-12). He has taught at McGraw Central School since 1991 where he serves as Director of Instrumental Music and directs the High School Concert Band, Elementary School Cadet Band, Jazz Ensemble, Marching Band, and small-group instrumental lessons. He previously served as Director of Instrumental Music at Pine Valley Central School in South Dayton, New York; as Brass Specialist, Marching Band Line Instructor, and Assistant Conductor of Bands at Bishop Kearney High School in Irondequoit, New York; as a Director of Instrumental Music in the Diocese of Rochester, New York; and as Studio Instructor in Trumpet at Monroe Community College in Rochester, New York.
Under Mr. Shelley’s direction, McGraw Bands and Ensembles have been the recipients of 24 individual Championships at the Sherburne Pageant of Bands. He has twice appeared as Guest Conductor of the Concert Band of the Oswegatchie Music Festival, in addition to guest conducting appearances for several individual school districts throughout New York State.
