Pre-K in Motion

With the frigid temperatures this winter season we can’t always get outside for recess.  Preschoolers have an exorbitant amount of energy, so we find a way to put it to good use, even on those very cold days.  Mr. Wilson gives us the opportunity to explore and learn in the gym while using various equipment. A recent favorite was the parachute and games like cat and mouse, and life guards and sharks.  Some of our other favorite equipment and activities have included scooters, hula hoops, Just Dance, and rope climbing to name a few.  We don’t let the cold weather get us down!  Playing in the gym gives our preschoolers opportunities to share, problem solve, listen to and follow multi-step directions, work as a team, and develop gross motor skills.  It is our time to be active, play, and learn!  The teachers get just as much exercise and fun out of it as the children do!

“Play builds the kind of free-and-easy, try-it-out, do-it-yourself character that our future needs.”  -James L. Hymes Jr.
