Learning About Thomas Edison

Recently, our McGraw 3rd Graders read a biography titled, Young Thomas Edison by Michael Dooling. This biography gave us a lot of information about why Edison was so important and it focused on the obstacles that he encountered throughout his life. It was remarkable that he never gave up on his dream of becoming an inventor! As a culminating project, the students worked collaboratively to create a timeline of Edison’s life using text evidence by arranging the important events of his life in time order. The students were excited to learn of the vast amount of inventions that Edison is responsible for creating. Did you know that Edison patented 1,093 inventions?
