Rock Identification Lab

Sixth grade students have been learning about the three main types of rocks and how they form.  After learning about different characteristics of each type of rock and how petrologists identify them, they conducted a Rock Identification Lab.  Students were given an egg carton with 12 different rocks they had to identify based on texture, origin, hardness, color, response to an acid test, and streak.
