McGraw High School’s Environmental Club had a wonderful time camping at the Watkins Glen State Park during the last weekend in May.  The group spent two nights camping at the campground and hiking the beautiful Watkins Glen trails.  They were also able to visit and tour Ecovillage at Ithaca. This revolutionary community of people live together with the goal to create positive solutions to the social, environmental, and economic crisis of our planet.  They do this by promoting experimental ways to meet needs for shelter, food, energy, and social connectedness.  After the tour of Ecovillage, students went for a hike at the Taughannock Falls State Park to see the breathtaking waterfalls.  On the last day, students went to visit the Farm Sanctuary in Watkins Glen where they were able to meet several of the rescued animals.  This serene farm is home to hundreds of rescued farm animals who each have their own story of their rescue to the farm where they can live out the rest of their days in peace and happiness.
