In Science 7, students designed controlled experiments where they changed different variables and predicted how those changes would affect the height of a pea plant. Many students designed an experiment that tested different types of liquids such as Sprite, Monster Energy, PowerAde, salt water, and a protein drink against regular water. They put this controlled experiment to the test!
There are three experimental setups. Each has the same pot, location, type of seed, number of seeds, amount of liquid per day, and type of soil. The only thing different in the three tests is that the first pot is given water, the second pot is given water mixed with iron tablets, and the third pot is given water mixed with a hydration drink mix.
So far, a small sprout is seen from the water, nothing from the iron, and a larger sprout from the hydration drink. The class is very excited to share these results; it's hard to believe such a big difference between the tests so far!
