McGraw's Lego League teams have moved past the initial brainstorming and are now in the critical phases of the UNEARTHED Challenge! The progress they are making on both the Innovation Project and the Robot Game is truly inspiring.
Archaeology students from SUNY Cortland were recent visitors. They shared incredible insights into the real-world challenges and amazing discoveries happening in the field today. The students identified key challenges that archaeologists face every day, which helped influence their Lego designs.
Currently, the students are engineering solutions for the Innovation portion of the competition.
The Arctic Eagles team has come up with a backpack design. This solution is being developed as a tool for field researchers to stay hydrated and cool. Providing solar panels to power specialized cooling packs and an integrated water filtration system. They plan for the sale of the backpack to help fund archaeological projects worldwide.
Meanwhile, The Ancient Eagles recognized the need for immediate on-site analysis and preservation. They are creating a Mobile Archaeological Lab that can be quickly deployed to a dig site. The lab will have a dedicated search area for initial artifact location, a cleaning and inventory input area for immediate digital cataloging, and a secure space to prepare the artifact for long-term storage and transportation.
The creativity and research from both teams is very impressive!
